FORMAT: Virtual | 90 Minutes

Online retailers and mass-market stores deliver enormous reach, but operate by very different rules. In the digital marketplace, discoverability depends on metadata, keywords, pricing, reviews, and sales momentum, all of which shape how prominently a title appears. For mass retailers like Target and Walmart, where books compete for extremely limited shelf space, selection is highly curated and the stakes are high.

What You'll Learn

Attendees will walk away with:

  • How online retailers determine book visibility and placement
  • How metadata, keywords, categories, and reviews affect discovery
  • Which digital tools and promotions help a title stand out
  • How mass retailers select books for limited shelf space
  • What makes a title well suited, or poorly suited, for the mass market
  • The opportunities, operational demands, and potential risks of mass-market placement
  • How to adapt campaigns for digital browsing versus in-store impulse buying
